This is the most Un-Subaru Subaru (Part 1). The SVX stands on the vanguard of unsung 90’s cars. It’s a flat-6, all wheel drive, low, sleek sports car…that was a commercial flop because in the 1990’s Subarus were known, in America, as cars for people who ambushed you at Circuit City with petitions calling for “People Should Be Nice To Me.” PART 2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6t6ddG_Tx4
a 230hp sports car only available with automatic transmission. good
thinking there, subaru!
I can’t be the only one who looked at the thumbnail and thought it was a
first-gen Eagle Talon…. right?
“It has aged so well.”
Uhhhhh….
I’d drive it if it came with a clutch petal.
Looks like a Nissan s14 “shows s13 coupe” but yes it does look like a
silvia from the front.
I had an SVX. It sucked. Hahaha
Audi did this prior to Subaru. In 1989, Audi stopped producing middle of
the road performance drivers and started making Performance – Luxury cars.
The Audi 90/Coupe was that class for Audi.
Did they even make a manual version of the SVX?
Oh crap, it’s the Uranus from GTA:San Andreas.
I appreciate that you covered the unloved SVX, but wow are your Subaru
facts off. Yes, Subaru still sold the Loyale (barely) in 1992, but the BRAT
was dead after 1987 in the U.S. We also did not get the STi until 2004, not
2000 as you stated. You are confusing it for the 2.5RS of that era which
had the appearance of a WRX/STi but no turbo, and also launched in 1998.
Finally, in 1992 you could not buy a 2WD SVX. These did not become
available until model year 1994. Hoping the second half of this video won’t
be so misleading….
Oh here’s part 1, I suppose it took longer to upload because it was a
longer video.
Looking at Australia’s usual car sale site, there are a total of four SVXs
for sale. Yes, four.
In a country of 24 million, only four are for sale at the moment. Fuck.
Also did you just call the S13 Silvia an S14? You silly billy.
Theres one of those sitting in my local pick n’ pull, I like it actually.
test drove this before I decided to by my 3000gt in 92. Couldn’t get over
those windows haha
I am buying one of these and gonna build the shit out of it.
When are you boys gonna review an Aztek?
lets do some comparing and see a different view on why this car flopped in
North America:
1992 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo (3000GT’s brother) $30000 new
1993 Mazda RX7 $32,000 new
1992 Toyota Supra Turbo $28,000 new
You could for the same money, buy a lot more car in the SVX’s era.
The alternator looks so easy to get to!
my buddy had one it was awesome untill the tranny let go oh well fun while
it lasted
I have one, 2005 sti struts bolt in, changing the gears with a 5 speed, and
a mild power tweak (stage 1 chip +15hp in the LOW end) completely changes
this car into what it should have been. Even stock she has no trouble
breaking 130mph on a regular basis.
When I bought it there was no 3rd or 4th gear. Drove it 150miles home in
2nd at 5000rpm (will go to 94!) And it loved every second of it.
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the three “bad” Subaru jokes based on (I
do get the Lesburu connection”
Subaru XT6 is really radical
Sounds cool but i don’t like the look of it myself
A Giugaro-designed masterpiece. A true Japanese bubble economy car.
Isn’t that the sileighty from thatdudeinblue vid?
Jerry awsome I hope you were just being sarcastic and not assuming I was a
subaru owner. Did the profile pic really give you any hints that I might
like gm products. Don’t get me wrong subaru’s are dependable and reliable
cars, I just don’t see myself driving a Subaru
There is a beautiful old red one that gets out in the summer. Like new
paint and everything
1:42 Does Fanfiction count?
I’ve got one but mine’s in better condition than yours.
The problem with the SVX is that people try to compare to to things like
the Silvia and other nippy Jap cars.
When you think SVX, think Porsche 928. This is a big grand tourer, and a
stonking good one at that.
I’ve heard of it, I drove one of these in the 90’s in GrandTurismo! Rare
car
that’s an s13 at 0:56
if u want a car that aged well look at the toyota sequoia, the 1999 looks
less than 5 years old. Maybe because they look the same each year
They’re making a new one you know? Part of Subaru’s epic plan to take over
the car market particularly in the US. The new SVX will be their flagship
model. Should be able to make a mark this time around.
Awwwww, I miss my SVX!
A bit similar in design to the wedgy 1989-98 Citroen XM.
Dodge neon
Love it… currently getting my 1994 SVX restored… Should do my own
review after it is finished… although I never will reach your awesome
blend of automotive knowledge and hip philosophical delivery ;)
Actually according to the original sticker that came with my 92 SVX it was
$42,930 no lie
do a honda prelude review!
I recommend finding and reviewing a Legacy Sport Sedan or Touring Wagon
with the EJ22t.
